On May 28, 2023, Nell and Dustin got married in Lexington, Virginia at The Seclusion. It was rainy and overcast, but still a stunning day in the mountains, surrounded by friends and family. They have been together over 6 years and initially met in 7th period Biology of Senior year. Dustin asked her to borrow a pencil and the rest was history.

They love the outdoors and taking their dog on walks, but one hike was especially memorable. While they were hiking a favorite trail, Nell was with their dog looking at the view when she turned around to Dustin on one knee. She said “YES!” and the planning began. From the beginning, Nell told us she wanted a romantic and whimsical outdoor wedding and it did not disappoint.

When we asked Nell what the most important part of the planning process was, she said “That everything felt like us and we weren’t just following the trends. We’re both only 23, so we wanted a youthful, whimsical look and vibe. We love the outdoors and neither of us have a particularly modern or elegant style. Julie understood our vision from the beginning, therefore that look was reflected in the choices we made. I believe we created a wedding that was very personal and unique to Dustin and I.” We truly wanted their day to represent them well and I think we were able to make that happen!

When we asked Nell why they chose The Seclusion as their venue, she said, “We both grew up in Lexington and we love the mountains. You can’t beat the Seclusion’s view, those mountains are home. The Seclusion speaks for itself!” As a couple who loved the outdoors, being deep in the mountains was the perfect spot for them.

And the best part of their day? “The reception. We loved our dj and we love to dance. It was so fun watching everyone (even those we didn’t expect to) tear up the dance floor! That’s when we truly got to soak in the day and make fools of ourselves with our favorite people!” Getting to watch everyone dance, sing, and celebrate love was so much fun!

Nell and Dustin chose the partial planning package. When asked what tip they would give other couples, she said, “I’ve said this to everyone, hire a wedding planner! Julie took 99% of the stress away from the planning process and the wedding day. Because of Julie, the planning process was actually fun and I could fully enjoy our wedding day. Because of Julie, nothing ever became overwhelming. She saved us so much time and worry and also became a friend.” We loved getting to know Nell and Dustin and working with them was truly such a blessing!
